1920 marks the beginning of advocacy for San Antonio's advertising industry with the establishment of the Advertising Club, one of nine such clubs in Texas at the time.

First District Governor From San Antonio Selected
Rex Preis becomes the first AAF San Antonio executive selected as District 10 Governor. Over the years, seven other San Antonio advertising professionals will have the honor of leading one of the largest AAF districts in the nation.
1978
The Humble Beginning of a Great Leader
Since the late 1970s, John Aguillard became a constant voice for AAF on the local, district, and national levels. John held various positions over the course of 40 years including board president, district governor, and national Addy chairman.
1985
AAF San Antonio Leads Creation of National Magazine
A group of local AAF leadership leads the creation and publication of the first national AAF magazine.
1986
Honoring Los Mad Men
Lionel Sosa is the first of the “Godfathers of Hispanic Advertising” to receive the prestigious AAF Silver Medal Award. Fellow Sosa Bromley Aguilar principals Ernest Bromley (2002) and Al Aguilar (2017) are subsequently acknowledged for their achievements.
2003
ADDY Freakshow
Toolbox Studios creates one of the most memorable ADDY concepts. The creative "Freakshow" concept extended to include attractions like fire eaters and sword swallowers mingling with attendees during the cocktail reception.
2009
Jim Anderson Inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame
Established in 1970, Anderson Marketing Group has made its mark in South Texas. Its founder, Jim Anderson, was inducted into the Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame in 2009.
